Chapter 9
13 The weight of the gold that came to Solomon in one year was six hundred and sixty-six talents of gold. 14 This was apart from what the merchants and traders brought, and from all the kings of Arabia and governors of the land, who brought gold and silver to Solomon. 15 King Solomon made two hundred shields of beaten gold; six hundred shekels of beaten gold went up on each shield. 16 Three hundred shields of beaten gold—three hundred shekels of gold went up on each shield—and the king put them in the house of the forest of Lebanon. 17 And the king made a great throne of ivory and overlaid it with pure gold. 18 And there were six steps to the throne and a footstool of gold for the throne, handholds and arms on this side and on that side at the place of the seat, and two lions standing beside the arms. 19 And twelve lions were standing there on six steps, from this side and from that side; it was not done so for all the kingdoms. 20 And all King Solomon's drinking vessels were gold, and all the vessels of the House of the Forest of Lebanon were refined gold. There was no silver reckoned in the days of Solomon for anything. 21 For the king's ships are going to Tarshish with Huram's servants. Once every three years the ships of Tarshish come, bringing gold and silver, ivory, apes, and peacocks. 22 King Solomon became greater than all the kings of the earth in wealth and wisdom. 23 And all the kings of the earth are seeking Solomon's face to hear his wisdom that God has put in his heart. 24 And each brought his own offering: silver vessels and gold vessels, garments, weapons, spices, horses, and mules—a matter of year by year. 25 And Solomon had four thousand stalls for horses and chariots and twelve thousand horsemen, and he stationed them in chariot cities and with the king in Jerusalem. 26 He ruled over all the kings from the River to the land of the Philistines and to the border of Egypt. 27 The king made silver in Jerusalem as common as stones, and cedars as plentiful as sycamores in the Shephelah. 28 They brought horses to Solomon from Egypt and from all the lands.
